SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners’ right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma tossed a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles.
Iwakuma has struck out seven, and he issued a three walks. Iwakuma escaped that jam with a two-out strikeout of Jimmy Paredes. Iwakuma also got help from second baseman Robinson Cano in that inning, chasing down Gerardo Parra’s groundball in short right field and throwing him out at first.
Adam Jones hit a deep flyball to center field leading off the seventh but Austin Jackson tracked it down on the warning track.
The last no-hitter in the AL was Felix Hernandez’s perfect game in 2012.
Seattle won 3-0.
