The final North American prospect rankings for the upcoming NHL draft were released Tuesday and some players with links to Peterborough have risen and slipped.
Petes centre Jonathan Ang jumped 42 spots from his mid-term rank of 137 and is now sitting at No. 95 amongst North American skaters. Ang put up quality numbers in his second OHL season, with 21 goals and 28 assists in 68 games.
In the playoffs Ang’s offensive output exploded, scoring nine points in the Petes’ seven-game series with the North Bay Battalion. That series could be a big reason for Ang jumping so many spots, said Petes general manager Mike Oke.
“When the games become more meaningful and more important, the better showing you have in those games is going to improve your stock and obviously in the playoffs he turned in some of his better performances of the year,” he said.
